Management Accountant

Industry Sector: Accounts

Letchworth, Hertfordshire

Job Ref: 5006

Wednesday 2nd September 2026

To £45,000 per Annum

You're currently producing a set of management accounts for a mid-sized business, looking for a better environment to work in, and maybe you'd prefer not to have the pressure to study.

That's not to say that if you're studying this opportunity won't be suitable; it's just that this CFO values attitude and experience over exam results.

Perhaps your next role should be one which will offer you job security and a space to learn and develop, on the job.

Supporting two assistant management accountants, you'll be preparing monthly management accounts, balance sheet recs, quarterly VAT returns, credit reviews, import and export compliance and oversight of the HR & payroll systems. All within a business turning over in excess of £110m.

All this, as you would expect, by liaising with people across the business, based in various UK locations, reaching into Europe and their new business in the US.

You'll be working alongside the finance manager, who's doing this work currently, along with two assistant management accountants.

It's a new job, created because of a recent acquisition and planning for the future needs of the business and individuals in the team.

There’s no letting up in its growth through acquisition and profitability, so this job is expected to grow in time.

And if that sounds fast-paced and stressful, you'd be wrong.

Because this environment is friendly and relaxed and, despite the important nature of the work, ensures the small team is not overstretched and making mistakes.

The company has been profitable every year; this is absolutely not expected to change, and they reward their employees with a generous annual bonus, provided you're playing your part within the team.

You'll work from the company offices in central Letchworth five days a week, 9 am to 5 pm, with a 30-minute break. As their office in the US is 5 hours behind, if you want to flex a little, and start a little later and cover later in the day, this will be considered.

Parking is provided free of charge in an adjoining car park, and if you're reliant upon a bus service, you'll have no problems.

Whilst this is 100% office working, you'll be joining a department that accepts that you'll need a little flexibility from time to time. We know year-end and month-end, for example, are times when you might need to stay a little longer, but otherwise, they're fair about you grabbing time back. And it's not unusual to have an early Friday finish.

This isn't a place where working early and/or late is normal, and they don’t clock-watch. However, you’re still expected to observe good timekeeping.

Annual leave is 25 days plus 8 bank holidays (keeping 5 back for Christmas closure) with a statutory pension on offer. But if you do contribute to the pension, the company also provide death in service: 5 x salary.
