The headline figures evidence:

  • Slower, but still marked fall in permanent placements

  • Starting salaries close to stagnation in September

  • Demand for staff falls and candidate supply rises rapidly




I think we can expect this to be the theme now, with similar 'news' in the November and December reports.

With the hope that once the autumn budget is out of the way, we will see something slightly brighter in January/February 2026.

In the meantime, it is miserable for active job seekers. So if you're hiring, please ensure a good experience for every applicant.
