My First CV

How to write your first CV

Compiling your CV for the first time can be quite daunting.

Even those who have been reviewing their CVs and have a long history in the workplace will tell you that there are lots of opinions on how a CV should be laid out.

I have been helping job seekers for over 20 years and whenever I give out help and advice I remind individuals that it is their CV and they need to feel that it reflects them, that they should be proud of it and confident using it. If you have acted upon CV writing advice and not been pleased with the results, then it's simply not 'your' CV any longer.

This is a series of 'how to' videos for someone leaving education and looking to get their first CV together.

And here is a free CV download to get you started:

Clare Wight is the founder and Managing Director of Clarity Appointments, an independent recruitment specialist. She served as a Regional Director for The Employment Agents Movement, supporting other independent recruiters.

She remains an active member of Recconnect (formerly Members Only), a recruitment leadership network promoting high ethical standards, collaboration, diversity, equity and inclusion.

She believes business owners are more fulfilled and higher-performing when they provide emotional and professional business support to other business owners, even those they deem to be competitors. She does this actively, whilst challenging and updating her skills and knowledge of the recruitment sector, enabling her to offer the best advice to firms looking to make their next hire.

Her voluntary work has included supporting a local Rotary Club and sixth form college to get young people ready for the world of job hunting.
