KPMG & REC Report on Jobs September 2023
I know a song that'll get on your nerves, get on your nerves, get on your nerves ...
Despite all the headline stats, it's the same story - a very bumpy ride continues with no end in sight.
We do have to remember that these stats have also been collected in the summer and we expect numbers to be poor.
However, it's clear from talking to many recruitment industry friends in the last few weeks that it's been an exceedingly hard summer. The worst.
Whether it be a dire need for job vacancies to fill, the lack of available candidates or a painfully cumbersome recruitment process which results in cancellations, counter offers and changes of heart, recruitment has never been more challenging.
If you're a business struggling to hire, my advice is to seek the help of a professional to aid with advice from the outset.
Helping you review the job specification, the job's purpose, the financial offering and the environment.
Far from an expensive overhaul, you'll likely find some small changes in approach will have a positive effect on the quality of applications.
I'm always happy to be a source of help and advice, for free, whether it be around reviewing hiring processes or putting together a compelling offering to job seekers.
