Permanent placements are down but there's no reason to panic - vacancies are rising quickly. The demand is there and that's positive when we've been worried about a looming recession.
However, we're still seeing a lack of available job-seekers.
No surprises here, with ongoing uncertainty, people stay put unless you make it worth their while.
Therefore, worryingly, we see a growing chasm between what businesses are prepared to pay for an employee and what a job seeker is willing to accept.
The scarcity of active job seekers and the cost of living crisis means this is still a candidate market. For now.
"If you want me, you need to give me a pay rise because I am taking a risk in joining you and my domestic costs are scary."
