Reducing Risk

Helping a Business to Reduce the Risk of a Bad Hire

Situation

Working with an SME, which due to an increase in work needed an additional administrator. They had put off their search because they were too busy to manage the process themselves, asking instead for existing staff to increase their hours to help when they could.

Challenge

Delaying the search for an extended period of time meant that their need had reached a critical point. They had little or no capacity to train someone for the role and needed to find the right person, fast.

Methodology

After a meeting with the client to establish the job and person specifications, seeing the premises to understand the working environment and discuss the business needs the consultant returned to the office to write a detailed advertisement to attract the right talent.

This was placed on a number of job boards and across social media. In depth searches were made on internal and external CV searching facilities as well as searching our existing talent pool to ensure we conducted a wide and thorough search on their behalf.

We sourced a candidate from an external job site who appeared to fit all the requirements who we arranged to meet, completing the registration process including an interview to check suitability and checking Right to Work documents the very next day. This candidate seemed perfect so we took up three years’ of referencing that afternoon and recommended her to the client who arranged an interview for the following day.

Result

The client met with two candidates for interview, just two days after our initial meeting.

They offered the successful candidate the same day they met them, commencing employment the very next day.

Conclusion

The perfect person was found for our time poor client within two days.

That individual had been thoroughly screened and fully referenced to ensure they possessed the right skills and fitted into their organisation, settling in quickly.

“Everything is going really well, really pleased thank you. I had a quick chat to her today to let her know we think she is doing great and she also said she is really enjoying it, so all good. “
