Helping a Business to Reduce the Risk of a Bad Hire

Situation

A £90m turnover business wanted to bring the whole supply chain function under one roof at its head office in Letchworth. There were four vacancies to fill, at different levels and as soon as possible.

Challenge

The hiring manager was newly promoted and not at all familiar with recruitment techniques. Her lack of hiring experience including effective qualifying of skills and experience potentially exposed the business to hiring up to four people who were not entirely suitable. She was also about to go on holiday and wanted to be able to interview on her return.

Clarity Appointments was selected to manage the whole process on her behalf.

Methodology

A meeting was immediately arranged with the hiring manager to discuss the job specifications and the type of people that would fit the culture there.

We sourced candidates from our existing talent pool as well as actively marketing and advertising for new people. All candidates were telephone screened, before being met for an interview to establish a short list for the hiring manager.

Candidate CV’s were sent over and interviews were arranged (coordinating multiple diaries for the line manager and departmental heads). Ultimately offers were made to the successful candidates.

Result

All four vacancies were filled. In addition, due to the high calibre of the candidates selected, a new role was created for a fifth person.

Multiple job vacancies have now been filled in the department, and Clarity Appointments are the first point of contact for new positions as they arise.
