Management Accountant (J207) - Accountancy

Location: St Neots Cambridgeshire
Basic Salary: £32,000 - £ 38,000 Per Annum

Clarity is thrilled to be representing our client during their search for a Management Accountant, this is an excellent opportunity to work for one of the world’s leading specialists within their industry.

The Purpose of this role is:

To develop, implement and maintain an expert management reporting service for specified business units that supports the achievement of sales and profit targets and the provision of superior service, in a high quality, timely, cost-effective and resource-efficient way.

Main Objectives and Tasks

To identify current and future trends within the business and enhance decision making and judgement by:

Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of cost/management accounting.
Developing a good understanding of the company products and services, other areas of the company/group, customers, competitors and the business environment.
Sharing information to enable others to fulfil their role and build their understanding of the department targets and objectives.
To contribute to the achievement of the overall business objectives and plan by:

Using knowledge, information and skills in planning and working for the department.
Contributing ideas and suggestions for improvements.
Developing the business plan in conjunction with the Business Unit Managers and the Group Controller.
Monitoring, reporting and communicating actual performance against the plan.
To contribute to the delivery of management reporting through undertaking the following:

Agreeing relevant individual/personal objectives, targets and success criteria for assigned activities and own area of work such as:
Reviewing business unit performance with business unit managers.
Providing regular business unit forecasts.
Producing profitability reports for products and customers, and other performance measures as required.
Reporting and controlling cost centre overheads and profit centre results.
Maintaining business unit profit and cost centre reporting structures, ensuring that allocations between business units are appropriate and agreed.
Ensuring that the correct transfer pricing is observed between business units and manufacturing divisions to maximise profitability.
Monitoring balance sheet accounts e.g. debtors, inventory and work in progress, and implementing corrective actions with the business unit managers where necessary.
Calculating labour overhead rates and communicating these to business unit managers.
To take joint responsibility for achieving business unit results by:

Contributing to the development of an accurate, comprehensive, fair/realistic and challenging budget.
Ensuring agreement, implementation and compliance with plan/budget/targets through monitoring progress and addressing any variances by taking corrective action as required.
To ensure the efficient and effective utilisation of financial and physical resources by:

Maximising the use and sharing of resources and identifying and eliminating waste.
Contributing to the setting of standards, policies and procedures.
Ensuring that systems, policies, procedures and work standards fit with and/or enhance others used in the business.
Balancing cost/risk vs. benefit when specifying or recommending any changes.
Qualifications and Specialist Training

CIMA or ACCA qualified or part qualified, preferably with experience in a manufacturing environment,
Fully conversant in Microsoft office
SAP R3 or similar integrated system
Full valid driving licence
