Trainee Accountant

Industry Sector: Accounts

Silsoe, Bedfordshire

Job Ref: 3918

Thursday 25th April 2024

£18,000 per Annum

You've not long completed your A Levels, maybe taken some time out, and you're now looking for a trainee role to become an accountant.

A full apprenticeship with all the support you could hope for to ensure you learn quickly and thoroughly, not just accountancy skills, but wider business skills, like professional communication. Meaning you can make a positive team contribution to the business in 12-24 months.

You'll join a small, friendly and very experienced accounts team based in Wrest Park, Bedfordshire, with about 20% of your week studying for your apprenticeship and additional online training to prepare you for the world of accountancy and client management.

You'll be able to demonstrate good maths and English as well as possess the right attitude to work and learning. In return, you can expect to be taken under the wing of a really good accountancy firm, run by a genuinely nice partner who is known widely in the community and wins a lot of work through referrals.

As well as the structured training and development, you can expect a monthly meeting to review what's been completed, and what the structure for your next month looks like and ensure you're happy and getting the most from your time there.

Day to day you'll be working with two qualified accountants, well-established, and an AAT qualified who's got strong experience and will also be studying.

You'll work from the offices five days a week, when you're not studying, with the ability to work from home one day a week once you've proven you're able to work well alone, with minimal day-to-day support. This is for your benefit since you'll learn more on-site and team members will be on hand to help with problems and queries you encounter.

This is a super company with the kind of culture that people regret leaving when they decide to move on, often taking the relaxed, friendly but structured and ambitious business for granted.

You'll work in lovely offices in a rural location where you can walk or run in the countryside in your breaks. At least once a month you'll be doing something team-based, like a shared lunch provided by the company or a Christmas event and a summer social which means a day when the office is closed and everyone goes out for the day to relax and have fun, further building good relationships with your colleagues.

After three years you can expect to be AAT qualified with a good track record of producing work like bookkeeping and VAT returns along with building client relationships. There's a career for you here long term, studying to become a chartered accountant.

Holiday entitlement is a generous 25 days plus bank holidays and despite being on a trainee scheme, you'll be paid a fair wage, way above the apprenticeship scheme guidelines, reflecting your commitment and the cost of living. Because the business owner is a fair person and wants you to thrive.

Your hours of work will be 8.30 am to 5.15 pm (with a 60-minute break) Monday to Thursday but finishing at 4 pm on a Friday.

Unless you are very local, you'll need transport to arrive at work each day and free, safe parking is no problem.

If you're interested, simply click 'apply now'. You'll receive an answer, whether your application is suitable or not. But if your application is taken further forward, you'll receive an email with a very short questionnaire, simply ensuring you're aware of the location. Once that's done, you'll get a link to book a calendar slot which suits you for a telephone call with a recruitment consultant who knows the business.

In this call, you'll get the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether you wish to progress further. If you do, your CV will be forwarded to the business for further consideration. We have excellent conversion rates of CVs sent to obtaining a formal interview.

Apply now to avoid delay.
