Clare says "What's evident from working in recruitment day to day, and the results of the survey, is that the war for talent shows no signs of easing whatsoever.

"And whilst the survey commentary reminds us that the labour market is more fluid in a typical January, I can tell you that it's not showing signs of getting any easier as we reach the end of the second week of January. In fact, job application numbers are very poor compared to past years.

"For businesses hiring currently, I strongly recommend thinking about the 'what's in it from me?' aspect for any potential applicant before going to market to attract someone. Because if your proposition isn't extremely appealing, you'll fail.

"Clarity continues to win business from organisations that have tried to fill jobs through other much larger agencies unsuccessfully, proving that it's skill and experience that win over big advertising and marketing budgets.

"Also consider whether you're missing out on talent because of a lack of understanding around DE & I. It's a complex area but getting to grips with it will give you the benefit of attracting skilled individuals you may have otherwise missed, unintentionally. I have a broad-brush blog on that too.
