Financial Controller (841) - Accountancy

Location: Royston Hertfordshire
Basic Salary: £40,000 - £ 50,000 Per Annum

We are delighted to be working with a well established, medium sized successful family run group of companies in Royston who are seeking a Financial Controller.

This is a new position, created as the result of organic growth and a necessary restructure of the accounting responsibilities and covers 2 business areas including a manufacturing company.

The responsibility of Financial Controller will be to oversee the financial accounting, reporting and control activities, working closely with the Managing Director.

Day to day duties and responsibilities include:-

* Overseeing and taking ownership of the accounts processing including purchase ledger, sales ledger and the payroll (the latter is outsourced)
* VAT returns
* Credit control and cash flow management
* Budgeting and forecasting
* Statutory accounts preparation
* Monthly management accounts in a timely manner
* Variance analysis
* Cost management and ensuring the group get best value
* Liaison with auditors
* Supervising a small accounts team

The successful applicant will assume a role supporting the Board of directors and ensuring the company runs as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. You will;

* Encouraging and oversee change (including a new computer system to be implemented shortly)
* Improve and document accounting controls and procedures
* Ensure that the group of companies comply with strict accounting standards
* Devise group policies and ensure these are followed

The successful applicant is likely to be CCAB qualified or qualified by experience and will have successfully undertaken a similar position. Group and manufacturing experience would be a distinct advantage as would Microsoft Ax Accounting (previously known as Great Plains Dynamics) experience.

You will be fully conversant in UKGAAP and IFRS, have supervisory experience and superb Excel modelling skills. An active member of the senior management team, you will be a confident communicator and possess good presentation skills.
